Every once in a while, something surfaces that isn’t just another product—it’s a continuation of history.
The new Morgan Special Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece is exactly that.
A Story That Starts Decades Ago
To understand this model, you have to go back.
Decades ago, the Runyon Mouthpiece Company produced mouthpieces and blanks for the Brilhart Mouthpiece Company, one of the most recognized names in American saxophone history. Among the products associated with this period were Brilhart's well-known plastic mouthpiece designs, including the Ebolin and Special models.
At some point, a number of baritone saxophone mouthpiece blanks were produced—but never finished.
They sat untouched for years.
Rediscovered
When Runyon went out of business around 2019, a remaining inventory of these unfinished blanks was left behind.
In 2025, Morgan Mouthpiece Company acquired a quantity of these blanks. Among them were a number of unmarked baritone saxophone mouthpiece blanks believed to have been produced for Brilhart—still in their raw, unfinished state.
No facing. No final shaping. Never played.
Finished by Hand—One at a Time
Each Morgan Special is individually completed by experienced Morgan craftsmen. The facing, rails and final voicing are finished by hand, with each mouthpiece carefully checked for balance, response and playability.
This is not modern CNC production. It is traditional mouthpiece craftsmanship applied to blanks that were molded decades ago but never completed.

The Morgan Special Model delivers a tone that will feel familiar to players who appreciate classic designs:

A Genuine Limited-Production Mouthpiece
These are not reproduction blanks, and we are not having new blanks manufactured. The Morgan Special is being produced from the vintage unfinished inventory acquired by Morgan Mouthpiece Company.
That means the supply is finite. Once the original blanks have been used, this version of the Morgan Special cannot simply be put back into production.

Now Available
The Morgan Special Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece is available in limited quantities and is individually finished by Morgan craftsmen. Most mouthpieces will be made to order.
Standard tip openings: .085, .090, .095, .100 and .105
Other tip openings may be available by request.
Because these mouthpieces are produced from a finite inventory of vintage blanks, availability will ultimately be limited to the blanks we have on hand.
