The Selmer Company made Grenadilla wood end plugs for their Super Balanced Action and Mark VI alto and tenor saxophones during the 1950s and early 1960s, Around 1963, Selmer started making plastic end plugs. No longer needing the Grenadilla wood billets to make plugs, Selmer put them out for the trash. Ralph Morgan was working for the Selmer Company at the time and rescued the discarded wood from the trash. He intended to use the wood to make plugs again someday.
Features:
- Made of genuine grenadilla wood billets from the 60's
- Fit Selmer Paris and most other saxophone brands
- Adds elegance to your old vintage horns
- Great replacement for the early Selmer wood end caps
- Proudly made and shipped from the USA!
In 1980, Ralph Morgan retired from Selmer as Chief Woodwind Designer. One of Ralph's retirement projects was his End Plug Project. He drew up the designs…which are pretty much the same as the original Selmer designs. He developed tooling, but never actually started production. The project stalled as Ralph focused his attention on his Mouthpiece Company. Decades later, we rediscovered the old wood stock in storage and using Ralph’s drawings, we started production of these plugs. These are made from the 60+ year old Grenadilla wood billets that Selmer discarded back in the early 1960s.

Morgan Mouthpiece 10-Day Trial Policy
Morgan Mouthpiece Company offers a 10-day trial period on standard Morgan mouthpieces and sizes offered through our website. That's why Morgan Mouthpiece Company offers a 10-day trial period, giving you the opportunity to play a Morgan mouthpiece on your own instrument, with your own reeds, and in your normal playing environment.
Your 10-day trial begins the day you receive your shipment. Shipping time to you does not count toward the trial period.
Custom-Order Mouthpieces
Custom-order mouthpieces and custom-order sizes are not eligible for return or refund under our 10-day trial policy.
Custom sizes are made specifically to a customer's requested specifications and therefore cannot be returned simply because the player decides they prefer a different model, tip opening, facing, or playing characteristic.
Custom-order mouthpieces are still covered by our warranty for workmanship and performance-related issues. If you believe a custom mouthpiece has a manufacturing defect or is not performing as it should based on the agreed specifications, please contact us so we can evaluate the issue and determine the appropriate solution.
If you are considering a custom size, please contact us before placing your order so we can discuss your requirements and confirm the specifications.
Try Up to Three Mouthpieces
Not sure which model, facing, or tip opening is right for you?
You may purchase up to three Morgan mouthpieces in different models or sizes for a side-by-side trial.
Play them in your normal environment and compare them on your own instrument.
Keep the mouthpiece you love and return the others during your 10-day trial period.
If you need a tip opening, facing, or other specification that is not offered as a standard size on our website, please contact us before placing your order to discuss the available options.

This plug fits so nice for my tenors Mark VI, Mark VII and a Nexus. The cork, like a clarinet joint, seats better than a hard plastic plug and it's easier to remove. I like the open top for ventilation.
This is a quality product. I had an original wood plug for my older M6 tenor, and now I have this wood plug for my newer M6 Alto.
Stupendi! Di ottima qualità ! Identici a quelli del mark VI
So rare!!! Original wood, crafted to be like the original! Perfect to accompany my Mark VI, and very reasonably priced! So lucky to have found this, and between the historic aspect, the aesthetic, and the love of these that was behind Ralph Morgan having the vision, I’m so grateful!!
Fits perfect. Besutiful.
Thanks.
