I am a clarinetist that also plays all of the saxophones. Morgan mouthpieces are the most comfortable and consistent sax and bass clarinet mouthpieces that allow me to relax into the sound instead of work harder. The classical alto mouthpiece is no exception! I now perform exclusively on Morgan mouthpieces for all saxophones.
Great projection when pushed. Good for section work. Well made.
This is a fantastic mouthpiece! It is nice and dark when I pair it with a Vandoren V12 #3 strength reed. Great piece and a lot more versatile than other classical pieces I’ve used in the past including Vandoren Optimum AL3 & AL5, Vandoren Profile AP3, Selmer S80 C* & S90 180. My only complaint is that I have to push the mouthpiece all the way in on the Selmer III GP neck crook I’m using on my alto to get it in tune. The Selmer III neck crooks seem to have a shorter cork length than the original II neck crook my horn came with. It sounds great…just wish I still had more cork to work with on the neck crook. I’ve read that some of the Morgan classical pieces have a longer shank so if necessary, I will get either Erik or Brian to shorten the shank on this piece. Keep up the great work Morgan! My next piece will be a Kind of Blue in a 7 facing. Love Morgan mouthpieces and thank you!
best mouthpiece i ever bought . works great with my old conn and it feels a little easier to play extreme high and low notes compared to a Yamaha 5c.
My students and I have been playing Morgan mouthpieces since 1997. The 3c is an amazing classical mouthpiece that is capable of rich nuance and full round classical tones. It changes little from one register to the next and is incredibly flexible. I am an avid collector with nearly sixty handmade mouthpieces in my collection for all saxophones. I still play Morgan. I played a tentet gig this past Saturday on tenor and used a Morgan 7M serial # 24265. If you buy one, take the time to find the right reed for the facing you purchased and you will never be disappointed.
