The Morgan Dry Martini Model 16 Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece brings the classic M.C. Gregory sound into a slightly smaller-chamber design with more focus, edge and brightness than our popular Dry Martini Model 18. It is an excellent choice for players who want a traditional alto sound with a little more presence and projection.
The Model 16 was developed by longtime Morgan craftsman Erik Greiffenhagen, who has spent decades studying, restoring and recreating vintage Gregory mouthpieces. After Morgan acquired several original M.C. Gregory mouthpiece molds and cores—including an original Model 16 alto core—Erik combined his experience with careful study of the original tooling to develop the Morgan Dry Martini Model 16.
The result preserves the warm, traditional character associated with vintage Gregory mouthpieces while offering a more focused and livelier response than the larger-chamber Model 18. Each Dry Martini is individually hand-finished by Morgan craftsmen in the USA.

Model 16 vs. Model 18
The Dry Martini Model 16 uses a smaller chamber than the Model 18, giving it a slightly brighter, more focused sound with additional edge and projection. The Model 18 has a larger chamber and produces the warmer, sweeter West Coast tone most closely associated with Paul Desmond. Players who want the Dry Martini character with a little more presence may prefer the Model 16, while those seeking the fullest traditional Desmond-style sound will generally gravitate toward the Model 18.

Great mouthpiece, same warm, bit dark sound, exactly what I was looking for. Don't know wether I sound like Desmond, but it goes for me in the right direction. I play it with a 3M D'addario reed and all notes of all registers are blessed with that special sound. I finaly can play my Selmer MarkVII the way I like it. Thanks to Morgan. Only negative point: the extra customs fee to get it to Belgium🇧🇪, but we all know why😌
This a good mouthpiece. To be fair however it is on a par with others I have such as Selmer Concept, Vandoren, etc. I was hopeful that the different dimensions would make a difference, but this has not been my personal experience. One would have to accept that the mouthpiece is in the middle of the air stream and therefore results are going to vary, as human physiology does.
Very satisfied!
Just got this piece in today and have been unable to stop playing! I have the model 18 as well and though they are both great, the 16 has just a bit more edge and focus while maintaining the dark and even core of the 18. I’ll be keeping this piece along with my original.
