The Morgan EG House Blend Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece combines a rich, dark core with the power and projection needed by today’s tenor players. Originally created by longtime Morgan craftsman Erik Greiffenhagen, the House Blend began as an experiment at the Morgan workshop and developed into one of Erik’s most distinctive tenor designs.
Erik’s goal was to capture the fullness and warmth associated with a great vintage hard-rubber tenor mouthpiece while adding more power, projection and versatility. His description was an “Otto Link on steroids.” The result is a full-bodied, responsive mouthpiece with a broad tonal palette while retaining a warm, darker core.
Originally offered through Mouthpiece Cafe, the House Blend is now produced by Morgan Mouthpiece Company from premium rod hard rubber and individually hand-finished.

Morgan Mouthpiece 10-Day Trial Policy
Morgan Mouthpiece Company offers a 10-day trial period on standard Morgan mouthpieces and sizes offered through our website. That's why Morgan Mouthpiece Company offers a 10-day trial period, giving you the opportunity to play a Morgan mouthpiece on your own instrument, with your own reeds, and in your normal playing environment.
Your 10-day trial begins the day you receive your shipment. Shipping time to you does not count toward the trial period.
Custom-Order Mouthpieces
Custom-order mouthpieces and custom-order sizes are not eligible for return or refund under our 10-day trial policy.
Custom sizes are made specifically to a customer's requested specifications and therefore cannot be returned simply because the player decides they prefer a different model, tip opening, facing, or playing characteristic.
Custom-order mouthpieces are still covered by our warranty for workmanship and performance-related issues. If you believe a custom mouthpiece has a manufacturing defect or is not performing as it should based on the agreed specifications, please contact us so we can evaluate the issue and determine the appropriate solution.

Try Up to Three Mouthpieces
Not sure which model, facing, or tip opening is right for you?
You may purchase up to three Morgan mouthpieces in different models or sizes for a side-by-side trial.
Play them in your normal environment and compare them on your own instrument.
Keep the mouthpiece you love and return the others during your 10-day trial period.
If you need a tip opening, facing, or other specification that is not offered as a standard size on our website, please contact us before placing your order to discuss the available options.
Restocking Fees
Our restocking fees depend on whether you purchase one mouthpiece or several for comparison.
Single-Mouthpiece Order
If you purchase one mouthpiece and return it for a refund:
- USA customers: $20 restocking fee
- International customers: $25 restocking fee
Multiple Mouthpieces — Keep at Least One
If you purchase multiple mouthpieces and keep at least one:
- USA customers: $25 total restocking fee
- International customers: $35 total restocking fee
This is a single flat fee for the returned mouthpieces, not a fee charged to each individual mouthpiece.
Multiple Mouthpieces — Return All
If you purchase multiple mouthpieces and decide to return all of them, a restocking fee of up to $20 per mouthpiece may apply.
Taking Care of Your Trial Mouthpiece
Because our mouthpieces are handcrafted and individually finished, please take care of your trial mouthpiece while evaluating it.
During your trial:
- Use a tooth patch to prevent bite marks and scratches.
- Remove the tooth patch before returning the mouthpiece.
- Do not sand, refinish, alter, or modify the mouthpiece.
- Keep the mouthpiece clean and in like-new, unmarked condition.
- Return the mouthpiece with its original packaging, ligature, cap, and any other included accessories.
Mouthpieces returned with bite marks, scratches, damage, alteration, or excessive wear may be subject to an additional deduction from the refund.
How to Make a Return
Your return must be shipped during the 10-day trial period.
Please use a trackable shipping service such as USPS or UPS. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs. Morgan Mouthpiece Company does not provide prepaid return shipping labels.
Please pack the mouthpiece carefully and include all original packaging and accessories.
Once your return has been received and inspected, your refund will be issued to the original payment method, less any applicable restocking fees or deductions.
Exchanges
If you would like to exchange your mouthpiece for a different Morgan model or size rather than receive a refund, please contact us with your order information.
We'll be happy to help you find a better fit.

Care Instructions
Clean with 3:1 water/vinegar ratio and buff with soft cloth. Do not immerse mouthpieces containing cork. Use spray bottle with solution, avoiding cork area and dry and buff with soft cotton cloth.

We offer free standard USPS shipping on U.S. orders over $200. Orders under $200 are shipped at the calculated rate shown at checkout.
International orders ship via FedEx for a flat $45 shipping fee. Because our mouthpieces are handmade, we limit orders to three mouthpieces per order.

Not sure you chose the right mouthpiece? No problem. We’re happy to exchange your Morgan mouthpiece for another model or size to help you find the right fit.
For U.S. customers, an $8 return shipping charge applies to exchanges. International customers are responsible for $45 return shipping. If the replacement mouthpiece has a different price, we’ll adjust the difference accordingly.

lovely piece but doesn't have the resonance of the mouthpiececafe i borrowed from a friend and have to return. i may have chosen the tip size wrongly and possibly should have gone for a 7*...
I've purchased and played about six Morgan tenor and three baritone mouthpieces. They are all high quality. So the decision to use one comes down how I pair a mouthpiece with a style of reed, the target sound I am aiming for and how it feels to play. Recently I've been using the Cool and the Florida, both very good and I was having success with them. I think the House Blend is the best one for me, considering my personal preferences and playing style. It has a dark core with a broad range of harmonics that provides a rich tone. Some old Otto Links can be tubby. I can generate a full-bodied tone with power consistently across all registers, at both a loud and soft volume. Very importantly, I can voice all notes across the horn evenly and generate consistent resonance. I can tell it has the potential to do more of that as I become more familiar with it. It feels good to play. I'm using Rigotti Gold reeds and that cut works best for me out of three or four other styles. Thanks to Eric Greiffenhagen and Morgan Mouthpieces for making it available.
