The Morgan Jazz Indiana Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece was designed by Erik Greiffenhagen for players seeking a dark, full-bodied baritone sound with additional edge and projection. Its large round chamber is paired with a short clam-shell style baffle, giving the Indiana a rich tonal core while adding the power and response needed for jazz playing.
Designed to work well on both vintage and modern baritone saxophones, the Indiana is also available with an extended XL shank for certain older horns that can be difficult to bring into proper intonation with a standard-length mouthpiece.
Like most of our handcrafted Morgan models, the Jazz Indiana is made from Morgan’s proprietary hard rubber formulation. The facing curve, rails, chamber and baffle are individually shaped and finished by hand using traditional mouthpiece-making techniques.

Choosing a Tip Opening
The Morgan Jazz Indiana Baritone is available in seven standard tip openings:
5 – .085"
6 – .090"
7 – .095"
8 – .100"
8* – .105"
9 – .110"
9* – .115"
The 5 and 6 provide the most moderate openings and a controlled, responsive feel. The 7 and 8 offer additional flexibility, while the 8*, 9 and 9* provide progressively more open facings for players who prefer greater flexibility and room to shape the sound.
XL Shank for Vintage Baritone Saxophones
The Indiana is also available with our extended XL shank in the same tip-opening range. The XL shank is designed for certain vintage baritone saxophones that can be difficult to bring into proper intonation with a standard-length mouthpiece.
The additional shank length allows the mouthpiece to be positioned farther out on the neck while maintaining a secure fit, helping correct tuning issues encountered on some older instruments.
XL sizes: 5, 6, 7, 8, 8*, 9 and 9*.

I think the mouthpiece is excellent. I have a Martin baritone made in the 1930s. It played sharp with every other mouthpiece I tried until I found an old Babbitt mouthpiece with a very large chamber. It was not completely satisfactory because the tip opening was too small. This Morgan mouthpiece plays pretty well in tune. Maybe a different one would do a little better, but I made my best guess as to what would work.
I have been playing a Ebolin5*for quartet and a RPC 120 for jazz. The Morgan is flexible enough to use for both.
Amazing piece. More edge than my Morgan GM but solid core. Will use it for R&B
I have a 10* that I traded for, and love it. Big round sound, plenty of power and edge if you need it!
I have a 1934 Martin Handcraft Imperial Baritone that was having intonation issues with modern mouthpieces where the mouthpiece was falling off the neck and it was still 20-40 cents sharp. Even the low b-flat was extremely sharp.
I ordered the Indiana model in a 8XL. This mouthpiece got everything within +/-10 cents with the mouthpiece at the middle of the cork.
In addition, the mouthpiece was real free blowing and response throughout the range.
I would highly recommend anyone with an vintage American Baritone to look at this mouthpiece to help solve the ring issues.
