- 5L (.070) — The smallest opening, offering excellent control and an easy, focused response.
- 6L (.075) — A versatile medium opening with a balance of control, flexibility and projection.
- 7L (.080) — A more open setup for players wanting increased flexibility and power.
- 8L (.085) — The largest opening, providing the most open feel and maximum flexibility.
Large Chamber or Medium Chamber?
Both Excalibur Alto models share the same slender, streamlined body and traditional Morgan design, but their chamber configurations give them different tonal characteristics.
Large Chamber — Darker, warmer and broader, with a traditional tonal character and excellent depth.
Medium Chamber — Brighter and more projecting, with added edge and brilliance while retaining the quick response of the Excalibur design.

Handcrafted the Morgan Way
Morgan Excalibur mouthpieces are handcrafted the “vintage” way. Ralph Morgan founded the company with the goal of preserving the traditional art and science of mouthpiece making.
We begin with our pure hard rubber formula, molded and cured to Morgan specifications. The facing curve, rails, chamber and baffle are then shaped and finished by hand using traditional tools and techniques. The result is a true handcrafted hard rubber saxophone mouthpiece made by experienced Morgan craftsmen.

Exactly what I expected when comparing to the medium chamber Excalibur. Less punch, but more breadth/body to the sound. Easier control in the upper register at low volumes or with a soft reed. Already using this mouthpiece for lead alto in a big band as well as a jazz octet. Would go to the medium chamber version for more contemporary styles. All of them excellent!
Played great right out of the box. Darker with an edge. This is the second Morgan for me....also play a Morgan on my tenor.
This is the 4th mouthpiece I have purchased from Morgan and once again it did not disappoint me! This mouthpiece (Excalibur large chamber) sounds wonderful on my ‘37 Conn 6M alto, great sound clean articulation and intonation is on point. Every mouthpiece I’ve gotten from you, for my tenor and C melody plays beautifully right out of the box and is very reed friendly! Thank you for making such high quality products!!!
This is another fantastic Morgan mouthpiece. It brings a vintage alto to life. It's easy blowing with a lovely mellow tone. It also fixed the intonation issues I was having with this horn. Thanks very much!
This is a great mouthpiece. I have had a RM Excalibur fir my tenor since the 90’s and recently bought a alto. It only made sense.
Please well in all ranges including altissimo. Great service and timely delivery.
